Mike Chong Perkinson

Pastor Mike was born in Busan, South Korea and was raised with an alcoholic father and a mother who was a devout Buddhist.  He grew up without any Christian influence in his life.  After spending the first 7 years of his life in South Korea, his family moved to the United States and continued to move around before finally settling down in Emmett, Idaho.

He radically converted to Christ when he was 13 years old and was called to the ministry shortly thereafter.  After his conversion to Christ, he lead his brother and mom to the Lord.

Instead of following his call into ministry, he pursued a football scholarship.  While at training camp, the Lord convicted him about his disobedience and after wrestling with the Lord, Mike left his scholarship and walked out on his football career.  He eventually ended up attending Northwest Christian College (now Northwest Christian University) in Eugene, Oregon and Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA upon the advice of his pastor in Oregon to pursue ministry education.

Pastor Mike met the love of his life, Teresa, in January of 1982 at NCC and they were married in May of 1983.  After 17 years of fruitful marriage and ministry God blessed Mike & Teresa with 2 awesome daughters!

They are new to the Boise area and were uprooted by God from Arizona and have great anticipation about all God has for New Heights and the Treasure Valley.
