Pastor Mike was born in Busan, South Korea and was raised with an alcoholic father and a mother who was a devout Buddhist.  He grew up in his early years with no Christian influence whatsoever.  After spending the first 6 years of his life in South Korea, his family moved to the United States and continued to move around before finally settling down in Emmett, Idaho.

He was radically converted to Christ when he was 13 years old and was called to the ministry shortly thereafter.  After being converted, he was able to lead his brother and mom to the Lord.

Instead of following his call, he left on a football scholarship.  While in training camp, the Lord was dealing with him over his disobedience.  After wrestling with the Lord, Mike left his scholarship and walked out on his football career.  He eventually ended up attending Northwest Christian College (now Northwest Christian University) in Eugene, Oregon upon the advice of his pastor in Idaho to pursue his studies for ministry.

Pastor Mike met the love of his life, Teresa, in January of 1982 at the college and was married to her on May 27th, 1983.

Mike Lyskoski

Mike Lyskoski is our Director of Student Ministries and helps coordinate operations at New Heights Christian Church. Mike joined our church family in January of 2013. Mike & his wife Cortney are experienced in youth ministry as they were Directors of Student Ministries in Southern California for a time and partnered as a House Parent Couple at a residential school for at-risk-youth in Texas in 2011 and 2012. Prior to that they partnered in various ministries  in Southern California and are very excited to continue to pursue God’s calling in the Boise area with their two energetic boys, Bradley & Joshua, who keep them laughing and on their toes.  Mike is also a full-time seminary student and has a passion to reach youth for Christ in a unique and powerful way.

 

Vikki Turpin
Director of Children’s Ministry

Vikki Turpin is the Children’s Ministry Director at New Heights. She has always had a passion for working with children and youth. Her active church life started at an early age in Utah where she grew up. Vikki moved from Utah to Idaho in 1994 and graduated from Meridian High School in 1997.

Her previous work experience has given her the tools to be a valuable member of the children’s ministry team. Being a mom helps too! Vikki, her husband Alan, and their two beautiful children have been at New Heights since 2004.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Clover Stephens
Administrative Assistant

Clover Stephens is a native of Pennsylvania. She and, her husband, Bob, and their family moved to Idaho from New York State in 1993.

Clover spent most of her career in the banking industry and began her new career change in 1996 at New Heights as Administrative Assistant to the Pastor. Her focus is maintaining a professional presence for New Heights pastoral staff in all forms of publications and communications, is a liaison for staff with the pastoral leaders, coordinates the church calendar, assists the pastor with all his administrative requirements – keeps him directed to the right place at the right time! Clover is Secretary of the Board of Administration.

She and her husband have two children a daughter, Becki and a son, Brett. They have been active at New Heights since 1996. Bob and Clover have three lovely grandchildren, Nathan, Shawn and Janae.
